Why do I have to restart my inverter every few months?

Your inverter may require a restart every couple of months to maintain connection and performance.

You may have noticed that you need to restart your inverter every 2-3 months to get it back online. Rest assured that while this may be inconvenient at times, it's a normal and necessary part of keeping your system running optimally.

Think of your inverter as you would your computer or smartphone. Just like these devices benefit from being restarted periodically to clear out temporary cache/files, refresh system resources and ensure smooth operation, the inverter sometimes requires a reset to maintain its connection and performance.

Losing connectivity once every few months, while not ideal, is relatively normal for a complex system like an inverter, which is continuously processing data and communicating with external servers. When you think about, your inverter is working hard for you 24/7, so sometimes it needs a little reboot to reconnect.

The brief interruption and reset helps prevent potential issues from building up and ensures that your system continues to run efficiently.

Having to perform this reset once every few months is a required step to maintain optimal system performance and prevent larger issues from arising. As a Plico member, you are responsible for performing this reset. The good news is that it's relatively easy to get your system back online. And when you've done it once or twice, you'll likely have no issues the next time it goes offline.

We're always looking for ways to improve, and that includes working closely with the manufacturer to minimise these occurrences. In the meantime, if you need assistance with the restart process read this article or complete a Member Support Form if you'd like us to walk you through the process.
